22题的个人理解：
elaborate作详尽的义项解，layout布局，排版，也有人说笔耕
原文“In those far-off days, it was taken for granted that the critics of major papers would write in detail and at length about the events they covered.”中“write in detail and at length about the events they covered”中含有详尽的意思，与原文最吻合。当然还有“at a time when newsprint was dirt-cheap and stylish arts criticism was considered an ornament to the publications in which it appeared。newsprint 字面意思是新闻纸，从文中意思看应该是看是不带评论的新闻，作者认为毫无价值，可以理解为不带评论的纯新闻就不详尽就不够份量所以就没有价值，接着作者又夸and stylish arts criticism was considered an ornament to the publications in which it appeared。就是说明arts criticism的作用，评论对新闻来说是很有必要的，必须得newsprint+arts criticism，而且criticism还要elaborate。

有人说第三段第一句前半句有个unfocused，根据这个单词要选B，我认为B不对。
unfocused按字面意思更接近free，而不是casual是随意的，漫不经心的，选B的说说你们如何排除casual漫不经心之意，未聚焦的就等于随意，漫不经心吗？如果是free style还有可能，出题人为什么要换词？何况从句中来看the unfocused newspaper reviews的意思可能是现在不受聚焦，不受关注的newspaper reviews，就是说newspaper reviews关注度低了，符合第2段的意思，简单来说，第一句里面的unfocused是出题人设的陷阱，与选项无关，这个题考的是整体理解，不是个别单词，就看一个unfocused修饰的newspaper reviews这个整体，就能判断得出Newspaper reviews在二战前的内在特点???

从原文看unfocused是修饰Newspaper reviews这个整体，不是修饰style的，当然也不是theme，也不是layout，也不是viewpoint，把22题A、B、C、D前面的第一个词都去掉，就发现是说四部分，不是说的这Newspaper reviews这个整体，所以这个词是否能当作Newspaper reviews特点的参考值得商榷。

第一句话根本没涉及到特点的问题，很明显要看后面几句来推断，主要是前文所说的“at a time when newsprint was dirt-cheap and stylish arts criticism was considered an ornament to the publications in which it appeared. In those far-off days, it was taken for granted that the critics of major papers would write in detail and at length about the events they covered. ”

1、尽管可能性很小，但如果定位在第一句，则unfocused应与free最接近，不是casual，应选A，选B的可能注意到stylish， 可由stylish不能得出是说style,同样stylish是形容arts criticism这个整体而非其特点。
2、个人觉得定位在后面几句，如果这个定位正确，那么选C。
3、倾向于选C，unfocused,stylish2个词可能是命题人设置的陷阱。
4、casual作随便的义项解且为正确答案，09年已经考过，第4条仅供参考。

A是主题 B是风格 C是排版布局，绝不涉及内容 D是观点（you can read it at detail, at leight对应的是这个而不是精美的版面布局）
这四个范围职能清晰，不会相互涵盖 ...

如果要给（报刊上的）新闻加上评论，应该给腾个地方吧，涉及排版吗？如果layout能引申翻译成笔耕，类似于原文中的write了
你觉得elaborate writing没有问题对不？

lay  out  分开和立案在一起是不一样的。。就比如everyone 和every   one 不同

没分开的，中间那个点不是空格，那个字典的所有单词都带点，可能是区分词根词缀吧
