1、distinguish /dɪ'stɪŋɡwɪʃ/

【词义】v.区分；辨别；分清; 使出众

【例句】She has already distinguished herself as an athlete.

作为运动员她已享有盛名。

What was it that distinguished her from her classmates?

是什么使得她有别于班上其他同学呢？

2、distinct /dɪ'stɪŋkt/

【词义】adj. 清楚的，明显的，截然不同的

【例句】The results of the survey fell into two distinct groups.

调查结果分为截然不同的两组。

Those two ideas are quite distinct from each other.

这两种观点截然不同。

3、distinction /dɪ'stɪŋkʃən/

【词义】n. 杰出，差别，区分

【例句】We need to draw a distinction between the two events.

我们得把两起事件区别开来。

All groups are entitled to this money without distinction.

所有团体一律有权得到这笔款项。

He graduated with distinction.

他以优异成绩毕业。  

4、dominant /'dɑmɪnənt/

【词义】adj. 首要的；占支配地位的；占优势的；显着的

【衍生】dominate  v. 主导，支配

【例句】The firm has achieved a dominant position in the world market.

这家公司在国际市场上占有举足轻重的地位。  

5、draft /dræft/

【词义】v. 起草，草拟

n. 草稿，草图

【例句】to draft a constitution / contract / bill 起草宪法/合同/法案

This is only the first draft of my speech.

6、dramatic /drə'mætɪk/

【词义】adj. 急剧的，显著的，引人注目的；戏剧性的

【例句】dramatic results / developments / news 出人意料的结果；突飞猛进的发展；令人吃惊的消息

The announcement had a dramatic effect on house prices.

这项公告对房屋价格产生了巨大的影响。

7、elaborate /ɪ'læbəret/

【词义】adj. 详尽的，精心的

v. 精心制作，详细阐述

【例句】He said he was resigning but did not elaborate on his reasons.

他说他准备辞职但未详细说明原因。

She had prepared a very elaborate meal. 她做了一顿精美的饭菜。

8、elementary /ˌɛlɪ'mɛntri/

【词义】adj. 初等的，基本的，元素的

【例句】an elementary English course 基础英语课程

at an elementary level 处于初级水平
