看了杜桂春的应用语言学，但是总是混混沌沌的，不明白说傻。课后题也是不知道怎么回答，请大侠指教指教，谢谢。
问题1，怎样理解语言的任意性和非任意性这对矛盾？它对我们外语教学有何启发？

By “arbitrariness”, we mean there is no logical connection between meanings and sounds. A dog might be a pig if only the first person or group of persons had used it for a pig. Language is therefore largely arbitrary. But language is not absolutely seem to be some sound-meaning association, if we think of echo words, like “bang”, “crash”, “roar”, which are motivated in a certain sense. Secondly, some compounds (words compounded to be one word) are not entirely arbitrary either. “Type” and “write” are opaque（不透明的，难理解的，晦涩的）or unmotivated words, while “type-writer” is less so, or more transparent or motivated than the words that make it. So we can say “arbitrariness” is a matter of degree.
