This postgraduate entrance examination came to an end nearly four months ago. There are many feelings and ideas swimming around my mind which obsesses me a lot. I know I have so much to show, to say or to share. Though luckily admitted into the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, never can I say I have any successful experiences to show off. In fact, I have made a mountain of mistakes in the journey, which has brought enough trouble and unhappiness to me. So I just write this paper to inform the following competitors of my silly foolishness and some unwise, short-sighted decisions. Wish these guys can learn from my lessons and avert the same route to realize your dreams more easily and happier. Taking the examination is just like joining in a battle. We not only need our hard work, but also entail the suitable determination, objective and strategy. Determination: Do you have thought the reason why you just want to take part in the postgraduate entrance examination? Do you real want to engage into the research work? Or just to flee away the increasing fierce work market? To tell my truth, no matter what the thought you harbor, I support you to upgrade your knowledge in the period of the postgraduate education. As in the twenty-first century the college students are of absolutely easy avail, especially for the students graduated from some infamous universities, thus they have very little advantage edges when compared with the students coming the famous colleges. Knowledge can change life, isn’t it? So why not have a try? And there lies my first mistakes. The decision whether take the examination or not must be made immediately without any hesitation. After all, time flies away and you should always keep mind that you must compete with the time. The wheel of the time has come to May, 2011, and you still have a lot of classes to take, numerous final examinations to take and many Practices to join, you will find that the time is hugely limited. The early bird catches the worm". So just make the determination right now. Once you have made the choice, you must act now. The number of the students who participate in the examination is exploding rapidly. Every year it adds more than 0.1 million. So the competition is unparalleled. Everyone must be well informed of the severe situation and work hard and work hard. Objective: the most important part of the objective is the University and the major you feel like achieving. Considering the severe current situation of the postgraduate education pursuing, we had better have a good and clear understanding of ourselves. Not anyone have well prepared well to confront the challenges of being enrolling into Tsinghua University、Shanghai Jiao Tong University、Zhejiang University and other famous universities ranking among the Top-ten universities. Take the College of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of my Alma for example, several students establish their ambition and pay the industrious efforts. When the scores come out, almost everyone jump with joy for the comparative high scores compared with the past year. However, the final the admission seems not so optimistic because only two have realized the goal in these schools. I am not dampening the student’s enthusiasm. After all, everyone wants to have a brilliant future through entering a well-known university. But as I have analyzed, with the crazy trend, we had better be more cautious and rational. So in my opinion, we should think carefully about our choices. Suppose you will score 380 in the examination and the university you apply is the Tsinghua University or the Shanghai Jiao TongUniversity, you may not be luckily enough enrolled into these school due to the over many competitors and limited quota. But, however if you apply the Hunan University, South China University of Technology, or Chungking University, Sichuan University，Northwestern Polytechnical University and so on, there is a high possibility that you may enter the school. Please bear in mind that learning to walk first before you leap. Entering into the top-level (within the 10) is not a piece of cake. Personally, anyone of 34 universities in the mainland is worth a try, entering into a bit weaker school is better than obtaining a high score yet cannot even have the chance to take reexamination. So figure out yourselves intently and set a suitable objective. Besides, you must take the following facts such as location, life, future work place into consideration. In a word, just take all the facts into consideration. Never just use your emotional ideas control you. Let’s be more real. Strategy: some students have scored highly enough to pass the past-line of the potential Universities but are often eliminated in the reexamination. It is well known that the postgraduate education is extraordinarily associated with the tutor, so as we the outward students we must hurry up to get in tough with the future tutor as early as possible. And never put all your eggs into one basket (This is the third mistake I have made). Conditions permitting, you can go to the school to have a face-to- face talk with the Prof on own, in this way you can show your sincere willing to be her or his student, and you can easily see the attitude of the Prof. Don’t underestimate this information because it is so immediate and efficient that can guide you take the next action and is of utmost importance for the reexamination. After the scores coming out, we should be brave enough to make rings to the Prof instead of silly sending emails; the task of sending email should be completed before the scores are posted. (This is another mistake for me). Email is so inefficient and obscure that you cannot understand the meaning that the Prof expresses or you may receive no reply. What is more, if you have some teachers, classmates, or relatives who are related with the universities you dream for, don’t hesitate to ask them to give some help and you must be quick. Because everyone is going to great lengths to hunt for the Prof. Being late will cost valuable chances. Still, anyone should have several partners during the journey. And we should be willing to share our experiences and what we have learnt, both in study and life. Owning a friend is very precious and necessary. When we are blue, we can cheer up each other, and play together. When we achieve something as working out a difficult problem, we can share it to others. So we will not feel lonely and helpless, and we can grow happily and study efficiently. Unity is strength. United hearts enables unity, cooperation generates strength, while harmony and mutual love are the sources of cohesive forces. Additionally, don’t forget, our parents’ love and supports are always our source of power and strength. It is very foolish to think that your parents cannot help you for lacking of knowledge or having nothing in common to exchange. Generally, the most basic regards and principles are the best weapons. As the proverb goes “Health is the source of revolutionary”. So apart from study, every week spend several minutes to do body exercise, such as jogging, playing basketball, badminton, ping-pong and so on. It seems that these activities will cost us a lot of time, however, body exercises will pay dividends in the later because the excise will relieve the fatigue and regulate the mood and give you an excellent state for study.
