The stability and development which East Asia enjoys is attributable to the joint efforts of the people of East Asian countries, in which China has also played a due part. China has always acted as an important force for peace and stability in the region. And China, which remains a developing country, needs a long-term, peaceful and stable international and neighboring environment as it endeavors to achieve the two centenary goals, namely, to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects by the centenary of the Communist Party of China, and to turn China into a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious by the centenary of the People’s Republic of China. We are firmly committed to the path of peaceful development. This is determined both by our history and cultural tradition and by our immediate fundamental interest of achieving modernization, and shall remain unchanged regardless of outside interference or suspicion. China’s policy of building friendship and partnership with its neighbors is sincere and consistent, and its wish to bring benefits to the region and its neighbors through its development is genuine. China firmly supports ASEAN in establishing the ASEAN Community next year comprising the three pillars of Political-Security Community, Economic Community and Socio-Cultural Community so as to play a positive role for regional stability and development. China is ready to work with other countries in the region to build an Asian community of shared interests, shared responsibilities and a shared destiny.
东亚稳定发展的局面，是东亚各国人民共同努力的结果，中国也作出了应有的贡献。中国始终是东亚地区和平稳定的重要力量。中国还是一个发展中国家，实现“两个一百年”奋斗目标，需要有一个长期和平稳定的国际和周边环境。我们坚定不移地走和平发展道路，这是由中国的历史文化传统和实现现代化这个现实根本利益所决定的，绝不因任何外界干扰或质疑而改变。中国坚持与邻为善、以邻为伴是真诚一贯的，希望以自身发展带动地区、惠及周边是发自内心的。中国坚定支持东盟明年建成政治安全、经济、社会文化共同体，为地区稳定发展发挥积极作用。中国愿与地区国家一道，建设亚洲利益共同体、责任共同体和命运共同体。

To properly handle the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula concerns peace and stability in Northeast Asia and the whole of Asia. China stands for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and for the interest of long-term peace and stability of the Peninsula and Northeast Asia, and China supports various countries in their continued commitment to peacefully settling the differences through dialogue and consultation. China firmly supports ASEAN countries’ efforts to build a nuclear-weapon-free zone in Southeast Asia and has reached agreement with ASEAN on signing the Protocol to the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty. We hope that ASEAN could step up consultation with the other four nuclear-weapon states so as to sign the protocol at an early date.
妥善处理朝鲜半岛核问题，事关东北亚乃至整个亚洲地区的和平稳定大局。中方主张朝鲜半岛无核化，维护半岛和东北亚长期和平稳定，支持各方继续通过对话协商和平解决分歧。中国坚定支持东盟国家建立东南亚无核武器区的努力，已与东盟就签署《东南亚无核武器区条约》议定书达成一致。我们希望东盟与其他四个有核国加紧协商，争取早日签署有关议定书。

With a view to realizing the common development of China and European and Asian countries, we have, in the ancient Silk Road spirit of mutual learning and harmonious co-existence, put forward and promoted the initiative of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. To date, over 50 countries along the Belt and the Road have responded and joined in the initiative. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is on the horizon and the Silk Road Fund has been launched, offering strong support for progress in the Belt and Road initiative.
我们着眼于实现中国与欧亚各国的共同发展，积极弘扬古丝绸之路互学互鉴、和睦共处的精神，提出并推进“一带一路”合作构想，目前已有沿线50多个国家响应参与。亚洲基础设施投资银行开始起步，丝路基金已经设立，为“一带一路”建设提供了有力支撑。

We have successfully hosted the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia and the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting. In these two major international events, we have advocated common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security in Asia, called for efforts to shape the future through Asia-Pacific partnership, launched the process of a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific and defined its road map, and adopted the APEC Blueprint on Connectivity. All these efforts have enabled China to make indelible contribution to the historical process of maintaining peace and security and advancing cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific region.
我们成功举办亚洲相互协作与信任措施会议以及亚太经合组织领导人非正式会议两场国际盛会，倡导共同、综合、合作与可持续的亚洲安全观，明确建设面向未来的亚太伙伴关系，启动亚太自贸区进程并确定相关路线图，批准《亚太经合组织互联互通蓝图》，在维护地区和平安全、促进亚太合作发展的历史进程中留下了深刻中国印记。

We have been actively engaged in efforts to resolve a number of major hotspot issues, including the Iranian nuclear issue, the Korean Peninsula, Ukraine, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the internal conflict in South Sudan, the fight against terrorism and the Ebola epidemic. Upholding an objective and fair position, we have called on the parties concerned to seek negotiated peaceful solutions and played our role as a responsible major country in maintaining regional and international peace and stability.
我们积极参与解决伊朗核、朝鲜半岛、乌克兰、巴以冲突、南苏丹国内冲突、反恐、埃博拉疫情等一系列重大热点问题，秉持客观公正立场，积极劝和促谈，为维护国际地区的和平稳定发挥了负责任大国作用。
Throughout（贯穿） my professional life, I’ve tried to maintain a basic level of （最基本的、最低限度的）privacy. I come from humble roots（出身草根）, and I don’t seek to（寻求） draw attention to（吸引别人对…的关注） myself. Apple is already one ofthe most closely watched（最受人关注的）companies in the world, and I like keeping the focus on our products and the incredible things our customers achieve with them.
在我的职业生涯中，我始终在努力保护自己最基本的隐私。我在卑微中长大，我不希望吸引其他人关注。苹果已经成为世界上最受关注的公司之一，我希望能够专注于我们的产品，并开发出令客户难以置信的神奇物件。

At the same time, I believe deeply in（深深地相信） the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, who said: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doingfor others?’” I often challenge myself with（用…来挑战…） that question, and I’ve come to realize that（开始意识到）my desire for personal privacy has been holding me back from（阻止…做…）doing something more important. That’s what has led me to today.

For years, I’ve been open with many people about （向…开诚布公…）my sexual orientation（性取向）. Plenty of colleagues at Apple know I’m gay, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference（有区别，有不一样）in the way they treat me. Of course, I’vehad the goodfortune to（很幸运…）work at a company that loves creativity and innovation and knows it can only flourish when you embrace people’s differences（接受人们的多元化）. Not everyone is so lucky.
多年来，我向许多人公开了我的性取向。苹果的许多同事也知道我是一个同性恋者，但他们对待我的态度没有什么不同。当然，我很幸运地在一家喜欢创新和创造的公司工作。我还知道，只有当你接受其他人的不同时，你的公司才会蓬勃发展。但实际上，并非每个人都如此幸运。

While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven’t publicly acknowledged it either, until now. So let me be clear（明确地说）: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among （这里可以省略一个“as”）the greatest gifts God has given me.

Being gay has given me a deeper understanding of（让我深刻意识到）what it means to（…意味着什么） be in the minority and provided a window into（开了一扇通往…的窗户） the challenges that people in other minority groups deal with every day. It’s made me more empathetic, which has led to a richer life. It’s been tough and uncomfortable at times（常常）, but it has given me the confidence tobe myself, tofollow my own path（忠于自己的道路）, and to rise above（超越） adversity and bigotry. It’s also given me the skin of a rhinoceros, which comes in handy（很好用）when you’re the CEO of Apple.
身为同性恋，意味着我可以更深入地理解少数群体，我也获得一个窗口去了解其他少数群体每天需要面临的挑战。这让我更富同情心，同时让我的生活更加富足。有时候，作为同性恋，生活变得十分困难和不舒服，但这也让我能够相信自己，去走自己的路，去超越逆境与偏执。与此同时，身为同性恋也给了我一张“犀牛皮”。在担任苹果CEO的时候，这特别有用。

The world has changed so much since I was a kid（世界变化太快）. America ismoving toward（走向） marriage equality, and the public figures（公众人物） who have bravely come out have helped change perceptions（改变观念） and made our culture more tolerant（让社会变得更包容）. Still, there are laws on the books in a majority of states that allow employers to fire people based solely on（仅仅基于）their sexual orientation. There are many places where landlords can evict（驱逐）tenants for being gay, or where we can be barred from（被禁止做某事） visiting sick partners and sharing in their legacies. Countless people, particularly kids, face fear and abuse everyday because of their sexual orientation.
世界已经发生太大变化，与我儿时完全不同。美国正走向婚姻平等，公众人物勇敢地站出来帮助改变人们对同性恋的态度，我们的文化越来越具包容性。当前，世界上大多数国家的法律体系中，允许雇主仅以员工的性取向为借口解雇员工。在许多地方，房主甚至可以驱逐同性恋房客，禁止同性恋者探访生病的伴侣或分享遗产。每天有无数人因为他们的性取向而生活在恐惧和虐待中，特别是孩子。

I don’t consider myself an activist, but I realize how much I’ve benefited from（从…受益） the sacrifice of others. So if hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with（与…妥协） who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on（坚守） their equality, then it’s worth the trade-off with（用…来交换的一场交易） my own privacy.
我不认为自己是个同性恋活动家，但我意识到自己从其他人的牺牲中获益良多。因此，如果听说苹果CEO是个同性恋能够帮助那些挣扎于性别困境中的人，或带给那些感觉孤独、渴望获得平等权利的人以安慰的话，那么这值得我用公开自己的隐私来交换。

I’ll admit that this wasn’t an easy choice. Privacy remains important to me, and I’d like tohold on to（坚守） a small amount of it. I’ve made Apple my life’s work, and I will continue to spend virtually all of my waking time（醒着的时间）focused on being the best CEO I can be. That’s what our employees deserve—and our customers, developers, shareholders, and supplier partners deserve it, too. Part of social progress is understanding that a person is not defined only by one’s sexuality, race, or gender（一个人不能被他/她的性取向、种族和性别所定义）. I’m an engineer, an uncle, a nature lover, a fitness nut, a son of the South, a sports fanatic, and many other things. I hope that people will respect my desire to focus on the things I’m best suited for（我最擅长的事情） and the work that brings me joy（能给我带来快乐的工作）.
我承认，这不是一个容易做出的选择。对我来说，隐私依然至关重要，我希望能够保密下去。我已经为苹果付出了一生，我将继续利用自己所有清醒的时间去成为最好的CEO。那是我们的雇员、员工、开发者、股东以及供应商应得的。我们的社会已经取得许多进步，我们理解不能仅凭一个人的性别、种族或性取向评判这个人。我是一名工程师、自然爱好者、健身狂、南方的儿子、体育迷、叔叔，还有许多其他身份。我希望人们能尊重我的意愿，我会集中精力于自己最擅长的领域，继续专注带给我快乐的工作。

The company I am so fortunate to lead has long advocated for（一直以来倡导,long指长期） human rights and equality for all. We’ve taken a strong stand in support of（一直站在支持…的立场上） a workplace equality bill before Congress, just as we stood for marriage equality in our home state of California. And we spoke up（大声抗议） in Arizona when that state’s legislature passed a discriminatory bill（通过一项歧视性的法案）targeting the gay community. We’ll continue to fight for our values, and I believe that any CEO of this incredible company, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation, would do the same. And I will personally continue to advocate for（倡导）equality for all people until my toes point up（生命最后一刻。很有意思的表达，很形象）.
我很荣幸能领导这样一家公司，它长期倡导人权和平等。我们在国会坚决支持职场平等法案，同时坚定支持在加州实现婚姻平等。当亚利桑那州通过针对同性恋的歧视性法案时，我们站出来抗议。我们将继续为我们支持的价值观而奋斗，我相信这家公司的任何CEO，无论种族、性别或性取向，都会做同样的决定。我个人也将继续支持所有人实现平等。

When I arrive in my office each morning, I’m greeted by（被…打招呼，引申为 “看到”） framed photos（带框的肖像画） of Dr. King and Robert F. Kennedy. I don’t pretend that writing this puts me in their league（把我自己列入他们的阵营）. All it does is allow me to look at those pictures and know that I’m doing my part（做好我自己的职责）, however small, to help others. We pave the sunlit path toward justice together, brick by brick. This is my brick（非常好的“主题升华”，为正义事业添砖加瓦）.
